• Due Mar 28 Essay 2: Stereotype Analysis – In this critical essay, you will identify a stereotype commonly found in American culture and trace the origins of this stereotype through time. You will rely heavily on researching multiple disciplines and sources for this assignment. The goal of this assignment is for you to identify underlying cultural assumptions and the role the media has played in supporting or refuting those assumptions. Think about the generalizations you found in the news and think about the stereotypes we see on television and in movies. To be successful at this paper you want to narrow this stereotype as much as possible. Think about all the cultures you can explore social class, gender issues, certain occupations as well as races etc. To be effective narrow the paper to one specific stereotype so you can discuss the specific portrayal.
